Pictures to inspire you to visit Cascais in Portugal

Rainha Beach in Cascais in Portugal

Cascais is a seaside town located close to Lisbon in Portugal. With a horizon to lose sight of, this charming city was once a fishing village, until the Portuguese royal family turned it into their summer refuge centuries ago. Nowadays Cascais is a destination appreciated by those looking for a beach vibe close to Lisbon.

I decided to visit the town at last minute after I saw a picture of Boca do Inferno, a beautiful natural formation closeby. But I was very happy when I got to the city and discovered a small and delightful place, great to be explored by foot. Also, the beaches are located close to the city center, which makes life easier for visitors arriving by train (my case).

Spending the day in Cascais is a good program for a hot and sunny day. And if you can go during the weekend, even better, the city will be more lively. It’s simple to get there; it takes only  40 minutes by train from Lisbon, and the ticket costs €4.40. Couldn’t be easier to enjoy this destination!

Cascais is pretty and small, the perfect getaway from Lisbon, especially if it’s a sunny weekend day. If you are in the region, don’t miss the chance to spend a day there, whether you want to explore the little streets and a natural formation or just to relax laying on the beach.
