The Mad. Sq. Eats is a small but delicious food fair that takes place in the Flatiron District, a busy neighborhood in the heart of NYC. The location is spectacular, close to the Flatiron Building and Madison Square, a great area to explore by foot. The event happens twice a year; the Spring edition is in April and May, and the Fall edition during September.
The food options offered vary, you can find pizza, crepes, burgers, desserts and so on. Some of the stands belong to well-known restaurants in the city so you can expect a good-quality food. The fair happens in a little square close to the street, which creates a busy ambiance even when the place is not packed. I like it, that’s so NY!
It opens every day during the season but is much more crowded during the weekends (lunch and dinner time), especially when the weather is good, and everyone feels like having a casual and outdoor meal. One time I had to grab the food and go to the Madison Square to eat, it was just impossible to find a table at the fair. Besides the crowd of tourists and locals, visiting the market is a pleasant activity when in NYC.
