Hey! I’m Kalinka, Brazilian by born, Italian by blood and New Yorker by heart, twenty-something years old and a big list of places to visit. I was born and raised in Brazil, and I left the country for the first time in 2012 when I moved to New York City. It was my first experience abroad, and after that, I didn’t want to stop exploring the world anymore.
I’m currently living Belgium, trying to discover all that the old continent is about, and I still have a lot to cover. I consider myself a person with two homes since I’m always flying back to Brazil. When I can’t hit the road, I explore my city, the thirsty for discovering new spots follows me everywhere. I like to keep that in mind because sometimes we ignore some places just because they are too close to be noticed.
I have a thing for natural destinations; I guess my dad’s obsession about Discovery Channel and NatGeo is the reason. I spent so much time watching all types of shows about wild places that my taste for natural destinations developed over the years. In my bucket list, you can find Iceland, Aurora Borealis in Norway, Galapagos Islands, Atacama Desert, Easter Island, just to name a few. But there is a fine line between my love for natural spots and my tolerance for wild situations. If I can get the package “nature + a good hotel,” I go for it.
But I love the cities as well; I like what they have to offer, restaurants, bars, museums, architecture, music, fairs, festivals, the local culture. I enjoy the food in special, when I go to a new city, I research what I can eat in there, that’s a big motivator for me. I love to eat my way around the world. Maybe I’m a foodie, or a food lover, or just a “person that is hungry all the time.” Also, I enjoy historical and mystical cities, you know, those cities that are all around our history books but don’t seem quite real. It’s insane to think that those old sites actually exist, so many histories behind them. In my bucket list, you can find Stonehenge, the Egyptian pyramids, Pompeii, Petra and many others.
About the blog
I created the blog because of a will of sharing my travel experiences around the world, what I’ve seen so far. But also to keep all my sweet memories, experiences and photos in one place. This writing is for me, is for my family, friends and also for you. You that are looking for information, tips, or just inspiration to choose your next destination. All that I write here is based on my experiences, keep that in mind while reading the posts because experience is a unique thing, and a good or bad one depends on so many factors, such as lifestyle, expectations, budgets, climatic factors, mood, and even luck. Be welcome and Let’s Cross The World!
